About PDF Tools
PDF Tools is a free suite of PDF utilities that run entirely in your web browser. Every merge, split, conversion, and compression operation executes on your device using WebAssembly — your files are not uploaded to our servers.
The product is built on open-source foundations: Mozilla PDF.js for rendering and pdf-lib for many structural edits, orchestrated through dedicated Web Workers so the interface stays responsive during heavy jobs.
Why browser-only matters
Cloud PDF tools require uploading sensitive documents. PDF Tools is designed for users who need speed and privacy without handing files to a third party — including legal, finance, healthcare, and personal use cases.
Transparency
Some tools are labeled best-effort in the UI when browser limits apply (for example visual signatures without certificates, or text extraction without perfect layout). Each tool page documents honest limitations in its FAQ section.
